I am fortunate
to call Colington Island my home. One of the Outer Banks
best-kept secrets, people have called it home for over 1500 years.
Nestled just west of The Wright Brothers Monument, Colington is
a world of its own. Colington Island was first settled by Algonquin
Indians and then granted to Sir Jon Colleton on September 8, 1663.
Colington was one of our first successful settlements.

| Breathless is the only way to describe the surroundings of this nature enthusiasts paradise. A canopy of woods adds tranquility to the winding road which leads you through a maze of nature and a variety of local cultures; a fishing village, stately subdivisions, modest housing, a campground, two churches, a small music school, fine restaurants, a convenience store and a seafood store. You can return to civilization with just a five minute drive. |
| The fishing is great! The surrounding waters are very clean and support many family fishing, crabbing & shrimping businesses. If you travel Colington Road any evening in the spring or early summer, you can see the many lights of the crabbers, tending their shedders, to produce a local prize--the soft shell crab.
If you are into water sports, youve come to the right place. Pristine waters offer many great places for swimming, boating, wind surfing and any other water sport imaginable.

The best known subdivision is Colington Harbour. It is situated approximately 10 miles from the Intracoastal Waterway and is a paradise for boaters and sailors.
Boats with a four to five foot draft maneuver easily into the harbour canals. Established in 1967, Colington Harbour is the largest neighborhood on Colington Island. It boasts a friendly soundfront park, and approximately 14 miles of waterfront property. The Colington Yacht Clubs Wednesday evening sailboat race adds a fine spectacle to the water.
